Body Gua-sha

For millennia, a therapeutic healing technique, known as Gua-Sha, has been widely practiced in China. It involves using an edged tool, traditionally made from materials such as bone and stone, to press-stroke the skin until redness appears. This action causes light bruising, which often appears as purple or red spots known as petechiae or sha.

Gua-sha is aims to move pooled or stagnated blood to relieve symptoms. symptoms such as muscle and joint pain, also benefit the immune system and reduce inflammation. Sometimes, Gua-sha is used to treat a cold, fever, or problems with the lungs.

When the marks will fade away?

The marks last anywhere from few days to a weeks all depending the gravity of your symptoms, in rare cases the mark can last about a month.

What the color indicate?

  • Light colored Sha: Blood deficiency or qi deficiency

  • Fresh/Red Sha: recently contracted condition

  • Purple or Black Sha: Long-term blood stasis (slow flow of blood)

  • Brown Sha: Blood may be dry (indicating lack of oxygen and poor blood quality)

  • Dark Red Sha: May Indicated heat in blood (due to inflammation, fever, or agitation)

After care

  • Avoid any drafts or wind

  • Cover the are which was scrapped

  • No shower for the next 5 hours

  • No Alcohol consumption

  • Drink plenty of water to flush out the toxin out of your system
